Your tattoo can take anywhere from 2-8 weeks to heal completely depending on the overall size, color, and detail of the tattoo.
Follow aftercare accordingly to ensure your tattoo heals correctly.
Follow aftercare accordingly to ensure your tattoo heals correctly.
Wash your hands prior to care.
Wash your tattoo with unscented, antibacterial soap TWICE a day upon regular morning and night routine or more often if needed. Pat the tattoo dry - DO NOT RUB - with a clean paper towel. If your tattoo looks dry, is excessively itching, glossy, etc than your tattoo is in need of additional moisturizer.
Apply A&D moisturizer on it after washing.
Please make sure to apply enough to fully moisturize the tattoo. Your tattoo should not be left dry however, avoid smothering your tattoo.
Gently rub the moisturizer into the skin to ensure it has been evenly applied.
DO NOT PICK THE SCABS - let them fall off naturally.
You may use any of the following to moisturize:
A&D Ointment (#1 recommended)
Unscented lotion
Tattoo Balm
Coconut Oil
Please DO NOT use aquaphor or vaseline as these are lubricants and will not moisturize your skin.
Avoid swimming, bathing, and any soaking of your tattoo until it has fully healed/finished peeling. Your tattoo is considered an open wound for the first 4 weeks of the healing process & soaking it will result in infection.
DO NOT expose your tattoo to direct sunlight for at least the first year without sunscreen. This will cause the color to fade/change. Sunscreen cannot be put on the tattoo until it has fully healed.
Failure to accurately follow aftercare instructions can result in infection, fading, uneven healing, scaring and will no longer be eligible for a free touch up. Tattoos are a permanent body modification, effects from poor aftercare can be permanent. The artists & Queen Ink are not responsible for poor healing in the case that you did not care for your tattoo properly.
After your tattoo is fully 4 weeks healed, you can contact your artist for a touch up if needed!
Touch up must be cared for properly and done prior to the 6 month mark to be free of charge.
